Clergyman Raises Alarm Over Erosion Gully Threat, seeks for assistance

The General Overseer (GO), Tower of God Revival Ministry, Pastor Cletus Nzekwesiri, has raised alarm over erosion gully threat,  appeallig to the Imo State Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodimma and the Niger Delta Development to  Commission (NDDC) to come to their rescue.
   The Clergyman, who took Daily Nigerian Telegraph Correspondent to the vulnerable area, Monday, February, 12, 2024,  disclosed that he had personality spent a huge amount of money to see whether the gully erosion site could be addressed, but all to no avail hence he is calling for assistance.
  He said that residents of No.1 Tower Avenue, by Onuiyi stream, Egbeada, Amakohia- Akwakuma layout, by International market, Egbeada, in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State are being threatened by gully.
     “I  want to also use this medium to humbly appeal to the lawmaker representing Mbaitoli State Constituency in the Imo State House Assembly, Mr. Innocent Ikpamezie, to intervene into our situation right now. We need help”.
   Nzekwesiri continued, “We are calling upon you, to please, save our souls from this menace which has eaten deep into our buildings, some of which had already swallowed”, he pleaded.

According to him, many residents of the are that had been badly threatened have relocated their families to safe areas until the erosion and the fast encroaching gully would have been taken care of.

When contacted, the Traditional ruler of Egbeada community, His Royal Highness, Samuel Onukogu, said they had informed  government of the situation and  that they were hopeful that something urgent should be done before rainy season sets in.

   Effort made by this newspaper to speak with the House member for Mbaitoli State Constituency, Mr. Innocent Ikpamezie, hit a brick wall as his mobile phone rang several times but there was no response from the legislator as at the time of filing this report.
   Also, another resident who preferred not to be mentioned on print, told this medium that they are now living in fear because of the gully threat.
     ” Government should come and solve this problem for us”.
