Just In: Fed Poly, Nekede, Owerri gets New Acting Rector, Ibeaja

The Federal Government has appointed Dr. Uzoma Friday Ibeaja as the new Acting Rector of Federal Polytechnic Necked Owerri.

Ibeaja’s appointment came sequel to the  expiration of the tenure of Chemist Christopher Onyemenonu PhD as Acting Rector of the Polytechnic on 10th of March, 2024.

This is stated by the Public Relations Officer of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Nwosu Ever Bezz, through a release he signed and made available to the media on Thursday.

According to Nwosu, “in a letter Ref. Dte/Poly/1073/C.1/T/1/42, dated 22nd March, 2024, the Honourable Minister of Education appointed Dr. Ibeaja Uzoma Friday as the Acting Rector of the Institution with effect from March 11, 2024. He would remain the Acting Rector pending the appointment of a substantive Rector in line with the Polytechnic Act as amended”.

He noted that “before his appointment, Dr. Ibeaja Uzoma Friday was the Acting Rector (Administration) of the Polytechnic. He had also served the Polytechnic at different capacities, majorly among them include: Dean, School of Business and Management Technology (SDMT) and Director of Evening Programme. Also, he was the Chairman of Academic Staff Union of the Polytechnic (ASUP), Nekede Polytechnic Chapter from 2012 to 2016”.

The new Acting Rector has resumed duty and the Polytechnic community is wishing him well.
