As APPLICANTS JOSTLE FOR 130 POSITIONS

Vice Chancellor of the Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education (AIFE), Owerri, Prof. Stella Lemchi can be said under pressure by political heavyweights for Academic and Non- academic positions into the University.
Weekend Statesman Newspaper gathered, from the grapevine, that even Senate and House of Representatives Committees’ Chairmen on Education are making strong cases for their constituents to be taken, even as the highly- sought for job vacancies are for only One Hundred and Thirty (130) positions.
It would be recalled, that higher institution which was formerly a Federal College of Education was converted to Federal University of Education by the former President Goodluck Jonathan in May, 2015.
Upgrade of the varsity held sway for about four months when President Mohammadu Buhari assumed office and reversed it to Federal College of Education in August, 2015.
The Citadel of learning continued with its academic activities till October, 2023 when President Bola Tinubu approved the upgrade of the Federal College of Education to Federal University of Education.
This medium also uncovered, that other top management Staff of the University appear to have been tie- down as the number of interests have continued to rise.
Since the massive recruitment embargo was lifted by the University in April, 2026, over it revealed that over 580,000 applicants have so far submitted applications for the Job.
