The two men have reportedly been arrésted in connection with the tragíc déàth of Wendy Achumba, a nursing student whose decàpitated body was discovered in her hostel room in Umulogho Community, Obowo Local Government Area of Imo State.
According to repørts, the súspects allegedly conféssed to repéatedly ràping the victím before taking her lífe in an attémpt to stop her from identífying or reporting them.
Wendy, who haíled from Abia State, was a student of the College of Nursing in Umuadara village, Umulogho Community. Reports said she had completed her midwifery programme and was undergoing post-basic training at the institution before the inccídent occurred.
Sources within the community revealed that neighbours became worried after she fa!led to come out of her room or respond to repeated knøcks on Thursday evening. After forcing the door open, they reportedly discovered her lifeléss and mutílated body inside the room.
Her mobile phone was also said to be míssing. It was further gathered that the room had been løcked from the inside before her body was discovered.
The Imo State Police Command confirmed the incçident through its spokesperson, Henry Okoye, who stated that officers visited the scene after receiving reports of the kílling. Her body was later evacvated to a mortvary while investígations commenced.
The inccídent has continued to spark reactions online, with many Nigerians calling for swíft just!ce for Wendy Achvmba and strícter puníshment for perpétrators of viølence agaínst women.
