TCN compensates over 2,000 Imo residents, as beneficiaries express joy

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced that it has compensated over Two Thousand (2,000) people in  Imo at the proposed reconstruction of 138km Alaoji (Abia State)- Onitsha (Anambra State) 330kv SC to 330kv DC Quad Core Transmission Line.

Speaking with journalists, in Owerri, on Wednesday, at the Rock view Hotel, the Project Manager of TCN, Engr. Omobola Sobo said the compensation exercise was part of ongoing efforts to clear the Right of Way (RoW) for the project.

Sobo further explained that TCN prioritises full RoW clearance before construction to ensure project infrastructure, and allow smooth execution.

Speaking at the event, one of the beneficiaries, Mrs Chioma Ofurum, from Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State, said, she happy by the action of the Transmission Company of Nigeria, and therefore prayed God to bless them.

The Company also took Journalists to Ihitte Mbieri, in the Mbaitoli LGA where they built houses for the affected persons.

Mr. Egejuru Austin, the President General of the Community, speaking at the ceremony, thanked the TCN for the effort they have made.

Speaking, at the Eze’ s Palace, Dr. Basil Uzodimma, said, they have been engaging in response to their they plan to relocate families under the high tension, saying they came to lay a foundation. He said, there was a time the people thought it would not come to pass. I want to thank the project manager. It’s a nine apartment building. We are happy to make these happen. We have twelve of them, We are relocating 10 families.

Adding her voice, Engr. Omobola, said they came to ensure that persons who are supposed to be compensated are reached -out to.  We want to appreciate all your support. We’re not taking your kindness for granted. Livelihood Restoration Programme.

The Executive Chairman of Mbaitoli LGA, Hon. Ifunanya Nwanebu, thanked the TCN management and staff for their compensation, saying it was a first of its kind.

He noted, that others made promises, but never fulfilled it. and therefore prayed God to bless the management and staff of the Transmission
